The scene: 14 kindergarteners sitting on their stars in Sitting Actors Neutral we are discussing food. We got to salad.
Me: By raise of hand,who can tell me something you put in your salad?”
They all raised their hands, but they all answered in unison,
“RANCH!”
Me: Okay! Great, what’s something else you might put in your salad.
Kindergartener: Um…ranch.
Me: Awesome! I love ranch too, what is something else we can put in our salad?
Kindergartener: Um…I think ranch!
Me: oh my goodness! Can anybody tell me something that is NOT ranch?
Kindergartner: I like to put ranch and croutons in my salad.
Me: Perfect! What’s one more thing we can put in our salad?
…crickets….
I’ve never felt so seen.
