After a traumatic leave from my dream job - teaching Junior High School Theatre - I returned to teaching Elementary School. It was hard. I missed my kiddos immensely. I missed my dream job, not to mention how traumatic it was to leave. After two years, I decided to accept the fact that I am an elementary school teacher by posting something positive that happened in my classroom every day. It started on Instagram and Facebook. It's now in blog form. Thanks for coming.

I have velcro stars and velcro dots. The stars is where they sit when they first come in. I pull out the dots when we need to make a circle.
After a game of Kids on Stage (literally so exhausted. It needed to be easy today), I asked my first graders to pull their dots up and hold them up in the air for me to gather…
When I got to one of the boys, he looked at me and said, “Ms. Karlyn, I’m really sorry, but I farted on your dot!”
I giggled. Then the whole class giggled. Then I set a ground rule;
NO FARTING ON MY DOTS!
We exploded into uncontrollable laughter. I may have gotten them a little riled up.
I apologized to the teacher.
